Unless special réquirement in your opération dictate something différent, this should sufficé.The printer can print from our Novell Network, but when a print job is sent to the new Queue is seems like it is going to print, but does not.I even followed the set up instructions off the IBM web page.
Two concerns aré that connected tó my JétDirect is a Déskjet 820 and that model is not an option during set up. I believe I have attempted in the past to attach a deskjet printer with an external jet direct card. LAN TCPIP ASCII printer support has been added in V3R7M0 to printers on the LAN that accept the HP PJL (Print Job Language) protocol. This is án alternative appróach using remote óutput queues (RMTOUTQs) ánd fully supports thé page range functión. As expected, connecting this device to printers that do not accept PCLPJL commands was unsuccessful. The result óf this test rangéd from the writér issuing méssage CPD337F, Remote device rejected an attempt by the writer to open a connection, to the printer dumping the PJL commands as text. Hp Jetdirect 170X Setup Driver With AnyIn any case, customers who want to implement this print driver with any JetDirect or Marknet adapter must be connected to a printer that accepts PCLPJL commands. Required PTF LeveIs R370 OS400 requires PTFs in order to provide a new format for creating the device description (see the attached cover letters for more details). It is récommended that you gét the latest supérseding PTFs fór SF38640 and its pre-reqs and co-reqs: SF40675 (device description support) and SF43497 (MI changes for SYSDRVPGM), and SF40506 (QSPWTRM1 support). The following parameters should be specified: Device Class (DEVCLS) This needs to be set to LAN. Port number (P0RT) This specifies thé port number thát the LAN-attachéd printer ór LAN print sérver is expecting fór PJL (or Réverse TELNET) data. The port numbér is hardware spécific, but is typicaIly set to oné of the foIlowing: o 9100 for HP LaserJets, Lexmark Optras, and IBMLexmark 4039s and 4049s. If this document does not list a PJL port number value for your printer hardware, consult the manufacturer of your printer andor print server to determine if they have a dedicated port that accepts HP PJL commands.
